Trogon Lodge
Trogon Lodge is located in San Gerardo de Dota, near Cerro de la Muerte, Costa Rica's  highest peak. The drive takes approximately 02 hours from San José heading southeast in the Pan-American highway. As one drives up, marvelous views appears before your eyes, carrot & potato plantations, the country side, and on a clear day, general overviews of the Cartago Province and Valley.
Admidst dazzling flowers, showing amazing shades of colors and where centennial oak trees show their impressive roots sits Trogon Lodge, at an altitude of 7000 ft above sea level, surrounded by the unspoiled ecology of the area.

This is the most attractive and comfortable of the lodges in the area. The rooms are rather basic, but the grounds, setting, and amenities are much nicer than at the other lodges listed. The rooms are all of good size, with wood floors, wood walls, a shared veranda, and one double and one twin bed. Room nos. 15 and 16 are my favorites; they are the farthest from the main lodge and have great views of the river. The family-style meals often feature fresh trout from their well-stocked trout ponds; as at Savegre Mountain Hotel, more than half the fun is catching it yourself. These folks have their own little zip-line canopy tour.
