Tortuguero and Arenal
(Jungle and Volcano)
5days / 4 nights:
 A wonderful combination of lushness, wildlife and an active volcano, with this package you will be Immersed in the lowland tropical wet forest invited to experience the rich nature of the Tortuguero canals and Arenal Volcano. Land transport towards the Caribbean to take a boat to reach the heart of this amazonic environment. You will be awakened by the call of the birds and howler monkeys. Guided boat rides and hikes in the national park are included. For this be prepared with your binoculars and camera. Your adventure continues with two nights in front of Arenal Volcano area. A guided hike into Arenal Volcano National Park will allow you to learn from the geologic origin of the country and its constant activity. Top it all here with the soothing hot springs of the area.
Day 1. (B, L, D) Early pick up today to the north Caribbean area of Tortuguero. As you leave the city of San Jose the lush landscapes of forested land appear. You will pass the coffee plantations going over the Central Volcanic chain and then to the lowlands. Breakfast is enroute. Learn about the growth and packing of bananas as you travel through the plantations. Continue by boat since there are no roads to get to Tortuguero. This afternoon your guide will be taking you to explore the town of Tortuguero and the lush surroundings of your lodge.
Day 2. (B, L, D) A boat ride with your guide will point out at the beauties and the intricate relationships in the tropical lowland rainforest. A true “amazonic” environment that will be revealed to you. Many chances to see wildlife: egrets, herons, parrots, kingfishers, sloths, howler monkeys, caymans, water turtles… There will be plenty free time to rest and enjoy the pool area at the hotel.
Day 3. (B, L) Leave Tortuguero by boat to continue to Arenal Volcano area. It is possible to include a white water rafting ride along the way. Overnight in front of Arenal Volcano.
Day 4. (B, D) Today explore Arenal Volcano national park with your guide learning about the geologic formations of the country. Later in the day enjoy the soothing hot springs with dinner.
Day 5. (B) Continue to your next destination.
