ROUTE: San Jose, Tortuguero, Arenal, Pacific Beach, white water rafting,

Detailed Itinerary:
Day 1. Arrival in Costa Rica. Upon your arrival we will be meeting you at the airport. A nice introduction to the country and your trip on the way to your hotel.

Tortuguero, 2nts.
Day 2. You will be picked up at your hotel to take you by bus and later by boat to Tortuguero area. You will go through the Braulio Carrillo National Park**(1), witness of Hollywood's "Jurassic Park" and "Gorillas in the Mist". Breakfast is enroute and an opportunity to see the packing of bananas after several banana plantations to go through. You will arrive for a late lunch at the hotel and in the afternoon visit the town of Tortuguero. (B, L, D)
Day 3. Slow moving rivers are the roads in Tortuguero. This day explore Tortuguero National Park **(2) by boat. Your guide will interpret the intricate relationships among the natural components of the tropical rainforest. Guided boat ride and guided hike in the national park, will offer you a great chance of seeing wildlife. (B, L, D)

Arenal area, 2nts
Day 4. From Tortuguero to Arenal / white water rafting in Sarapiqui. Enjoy a leisure breakfast and the birding from the lodge area. At around midmoring leave Tortuguero by boat and then by bus. After lunch you will be picked up to go for a class II-III white wate rafting ride in Sarapiqui region. Continue towards Arenal area where your comfortable accommodations are located in front of Arenal Volcano. (B, L)
Day 5. Arenal Volcano hike and hot springs. A nice guided hike in Arenal Volcano National Park**(3). Your guide will take you to the national park for a nice hike learning about the volcanic activity and the re-growth of the forest. Later today relax in the soothing hot springs. There is plenty time today to engage in a half day tour at additional cost, like the canopy tour or an ATV ride. (B, D)

Flamingo beach, 2nts
Day 6 . Move on today from the mountains to the Pacific Coast. Go around Lake Arenal**(4) , a man made lake to fulfill the needs of hidroelectricity and as an irrigation network for the Pacific dry forest. Arrive in the early afternoon at your beach hotel. The best way to enjoy the beach on the Pacific, wonderful accommodations just footsteps from the white sand beach of Flamingo. (B)
Day 7. At the beach. Enjoy the whole day at your leisure at the beautiful clear waters of the beach. Optional activities for you to do on site at additional cost. (B)

Day 8. Back to San Jose. Leave the beach to go back to San Jose closer to the airport. Different landscapes from the dry forest to the mountains and then central valley, rich land for coffee plantations. (B)

Day 9. Departure day. Airport shuttle service. (B)
