STUDY FIELD TRIP IN COSTA RICA:
DETAILED DESCRIPTION
Day 1. Arrival in San Jose. Welcome to Costa Rica while bus transfer. A nice briefing regarding the whole trip and expectations for next day.
Day 2. At research station in cloud forest
Activities today: early bird-watching walk, breakfast, cloud forest hike with general overview of cloud forest ecology, flora and fauna. Lunch, Biodiversity assessment / field study: structure of the cloud forest, ecology, natural history, climate, geography, topography, adaptations for both plants and animals.
Tonight daily wrap up.
Day 3. At research station in cloud forest
Activities today: early bird-watching walk, breakfast, Community small group activities, lunch with community members, school visit and students presentation. Life in rural Costa Rica, local sustainable development initiatives.

Day 4. Transit day to lowland rainforest Breakfast on the way, guided topics: overview of the different environments while descending, importance of the national parks, large scale agriculture banana/ pineapple, watershed resources, communities. Arrival, lunch and free time. After dinner, exploring the rainforest at night. Daily wrap up.

Day 5. in lowland rainforest
Early birding, breakfast, guided hike in lowland rainforest ¨Structure and function of the rainforest¨, lunch, afternoon arthropod explorations. Volunteer beach patrol.

Day 6. in lowland rainforest Early guided boat trip to spot wildlife. Late breakfast. Biodiversity assessment. After lunch, visit field station or boat trip to see more wildlife. Dinner.

Day 7. transit to San Jose After breakfast, leave by boat towards San Jose arriving in the early afternoon for a short city tour and last minute shopping. Farewell dinner and final wrap up.
Day 8. Departure day.
Transfer services to airport.
Does not include: international airfare, personal equipment, extras (laundry, phone calls), personal insurance coverage (mandatory for student trips), departure tax US$26 per person to be paid at the airport.
